An Unusual Arrangement Accepted into the 44th Annual WSI Juried Exhibition
I am excited and honored to announce that my painting “An Unusual Arrangement” will be part of the 44th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Watercolor Society of Indiana at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (Newfields). The exhibition is free and open to the public, running from August 28 until October 25, 2026.
An Unusual Arrangement is a highly detailed, realistic work measuring 22 × 30 inches, executed with Holbein paints on Arches paper. Based on a photograph taken by the artist in a grocery store floral department, the painting depicts a Pincushion Protea, three yellow Ranunculus, Annual Rabbitsfoot Grass, Safari Sunset Conebush, Tutsan, and Hydrangea ‘Mariesii Variegata’ leaves, among others. The piece took three months of active work to paint, reflecting the patience and precision that botanical realism in watercolor demands.
According to the WSI, this year there were 159 entries submitted by 91 members. Guest juror Kathleen Giles selected 45 for the exhibition.
Since its founding as The Art Association of Indianapolis on November 7, 1883, Newfields has grown into a 152-acre cultural campus that is home to the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), one of the ten largest and oldest general art museums in the United States, Fairbanks Park, The Garden, Lilly House, and the Elder Greenhouse.
