Garden Lobelia: After the Rain is a highly detailed, realistic work measuring 22 × 30 inches, executed with Holbein watercolors on Arches paper. Depicting tiny purplish-blue garden Lobelia flowers photographed at my mother’s home after a rain, the piece took two months of active work to complete, reflecting the patience and precision that botanical realism in watercolor demands.
